R;pple Suicide Prevention Charity was founded in 2021 by Alice Hendy MBE, following the tragic loss of her brother Josh to suicide at 21years old. Josh had been researching on the internet techniques to take his own life – and he was not alone. Globally, an alarming 1.2 million online searches linked to suicide occur each month. To ensure more help and support is given to individuals searching for harmful content online, Alice set up R;pple, a digital crisis intervention tool designed to present a visual prompt when a person searches for phrases relating to the topic of self-harm or suicide and signpost them to support.
Alice Hendy MBE, R;pple Founder and CEO, said: "We are deeply honoured to receive the King’s Award, one of the highest recognitions a UK organisation can achieve. This award is a powerful validation of our mission to save lives and bring hope to those in crisis. We are absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud of the impact R;pple continues to make across the country and beyond. This recognition belongs to every individual and partner who has supported our journey. Together, we are creating a safer, more compassionate world."
